Grease one 9x13 inch baking pan.Combine the sugar, flour, milk, salt, dates, nut, vanilla and baking powder and mix well. Pour batter into the prepared pan.In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar, water and butter or margarine and bring to boil.
